We are happy to announce our first group of hikers coming from Estonia and the first group from the Ladies Trekking Club.
Heli, Neeme and Tom jumped on an airplane from Estonia with the plan to get to Chile to hike through ancient forests and volcanoes. They have been preparing for this trip for a while and their expectations were high. They didn’t know that they would be able to explore one of the most fascinating parts of Chile, dominated by clear water lakes and live volcanoes. They arrived to Temuco on the 29th of March, 2016. At the airport they met Patrick (professional guide) and Orlando (professional driver) and started their fabulous adventure towards Malalcahuello, a little village part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve “Araucarias”.
In the following days they hiked the trails of the Andes mountain range with friendly locals. They have reached Cerro Coloradito, visited the Truful Truful canyon and the pristine Arcoiris Lagoon with its clear water that reflects stunning colors at Congullio National Park. Furthermore, they were able to spot endemic birds such as the chucao tapaculo and the noisy slender-billed parakeet. In Pucon, the main adventure tourism destination in the Lake & Volcano District, our new Estonian friends had another great experience. They hiked towards ancient Araucaria and Nothofagus forests at the Villarrica National Park. Moreover, they reached the Pichillancahue Glacier and the Andean lakes also located at the afore named protected area. Then Heli, Neeme and Tom relaxed in soothing natural hot springs. Towards the coast, our visitors went to temperate rain forests at the Valdivian Jungle at Pilonkura and Curiñanco Indigenous Reserves and the Valdivian Coastal Reserve, a conservation project developed by the American NGO -the Nature Conservancy. Finally, our guests were able to enjoy the Huilo Huilo biological reserve and all its amazing surroundings.
We feel that this first encounter with Heli, Neeme and Tom from Estonia is the first of many other gatherings to come. They enjoyed hiking around the Lake and Volcano District, and we were able to feel how happy they were within the landscape, lakes, trails and volcanoes. We look forward to meet our new friends again, hiking in Easter Island, Atacama Desert or southern Patagonia. We wish them a safe trip back home!!!!
